Let’s start by clearly stating it would be a mistake to view 2005 outcomes only in terms of short-range gains and losses. GCAP’s effectiveness needs to be assessed in the context of the long term and here, the outlook can be said to be far more promising.  

White Band Day I, July 2nd, 2005, is reported to have been the most effective GCAP event in terms of civil society mobilization in 2005. The involvement of celebrities such as Bono, Bob Geldof and Richard Branson, made the event a glittering extravaganza.

White Band Day II, September 10th, 2005 was less successful in gaining public notice than White Band Day I.
