The symbol of this international campaign is a simple White Band. It can be worn around the wrist, your arm – in fact anywhere you’d like, as long as it can be seen by everyone!

The overall aim of the Global Secretariat was – and is – to facilitate GCAP mobilisation for both regional and global activities in July, September and December 2005. Those aims included:

CIVICUS, coordinating with the Secretariat staff organised the Johannesburg concert “Africa Standing Tall against Poverty, In Concert with Live8,” which was held on July 2^nd, the same day as the series of Live8 concerts organised in G8 capitals.
